Useful Safety Tips During The COVID-19 Pandemic

Hello inReaders!

As we all know, the world is currently under attack by the COVID-19 virus. And many of us are still under some form of lockdown because of it.

During this pandemic, we want to ensure that all of you are as safe as possible during rides as well as in your daily lives. So in this article, we'll give you some tips on what you can do to help protect yourselves and those around you.

But first, let’s help you understand what exactly the COVID-19 virus is.

WHAT IS COVID-19?

COVID-19 is a virus which belongs to a family of viruses called “coronaviruses”. These viruses can cause mild illnesses or more serious conditions such as pneumonia.

The two most common types of coronaviruses are the cold and flu viruses.

The COVID-19 virus is a new type of coronavirus which was discovered very recently. And it's said to be more dangerous than the cold and flu viruses.

Because it's more dangerous, it makes sense to be extra careful in our daily lives. But what exactly can you do to be safer? Well, you can follow these useful tips:

TIPS FOR ALL USERS:

TIP #1: KEEP YOUR HANDS CLEAN

Regularly wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. You can also use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if you do not have access to soap and water.

TIP #2: AVOID PUBLIC SPACES

More people means a higher chance of infection. So to keep your risk lower, try to avoid any spaces which have many people as much as possible.

TIP #3: DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FACE

Try not to touch your eyes, nose, or mouth. This is because to touch these areas can make it easier for germs like COVID-19 to travel from your hands into your body. This tip is especially important if you are in public.

TIP #4: COVER YOUR MOUTH

When you cough or sneeze, cover your mouth and nose with a tissue, handkerchief, or your elbow.

Don’t forget to throw away the tissue after you use it and to wash your hands afterwards. Also remember to wash your handkerchiefs and clothes regularly.

TIP #5: KEEP YOUR DISTANCE

You should not leave your house unless you really have to. But if you need to leave your house for a very important reason, you should try to keep a distance of at least 1 to 2 meters from other people.

TIP #6: WEAR A MASK

If you need to go out in public, wear a face mask.

TIP #7: SEEK MEDICAL ADVICE

Seek medical advice if you have a fever, a cough, or breathing troubles. And remember to call for help first and to not leave your house.

TIPS FOR DRIVERS:

TIP #1: AIR OUT YOUR CAR

Regularly air out your car. In other words, open your windows either during or in between rides in order to allow fresh air to ventilate the car.

TIP #2: WIPE DOWN SURFACES

Wipe down your car’s surfaces with disinfectant cleaning products many times a day. This is especially important after you transport a passenger. Also, remember to clean the door handles, seat belts, and leather and metal parts with extra care.

TIP #3: KEEP EXTRA HAND SANITIZER

Have extra hand sanitizer available in your car for passengers who don't have their own.

TIP #4: AVOID TALKING

Try to talk as little as possible during rides. This is because talking can spray droplets from your mouth.

TIPS FOR PASSENGERS:

TIP #1: TRY NOT TO RIDE IN GROUPS

Avoid rides in groups unless it's absolutely necessary. If it's not necessary, then try to ride alone if possible.

TIP #2: KEEP YOUR DISTANCE

Sit in the part of the car that is furthest away from the driver.

TIP #3: AVOID TALKING

Try not to talk to your driver, fellow passengers or on your phone. This is because talking can spray droplets from your mouth.
